Exercise 1:

List all symmetry elements of:

          a) an isosceles  triangle

           b) an equilateral triangle

          c) a square table

          d) an uncloistered  hexahedral pencil

          e) a cloistered  hexahedral pencil

           f) a man (approximately)

           g) an UFO (a typical one from Mars)

  To which point group belong  these objects?

Exercise 2: 

          a) List all symmetry elements of the molecule CH₃I. To which point group belongs this molecule? 

          b) Do the same for CCl₄.

          c) Do the same for ethylene C₂H₄.

Exercise 3:       

a) Determine the point groups of the following molecules in their electronic ground state: H₂O, acetylene C₂H₂,  CO, N₂,  methane CH₄, ethane C₂H₆,  methylfluoride CH₃F, benzene C₆H₆.
